AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — More Austin police will be on patrol during the 2015 South By Southwest festival a year after four people were killed when a car went into a crowd.

The SXSW festival runs March 13-22 with interactive, film and music events.

A police official told the Austin Public Safety Commission on Monday that about 60 more officers will be downtown. Assistant Chief Jason Dusterhoft says an additional 120 officers will make up a response team for crowd control near the end of the festival.

Police determined a driver was legally drunk last March when officers tried to stop his car, which then veered into a crowd. Four people were killed and nearly two dozen were hurt.

The suspect remained jailed Tuesday on capital murder and aggravated assault charges.
