DALLAS (AP) — Dallas police say a woman has been stabbed near a downtown light rail station in an attack that interrupted service for thousands of commuters.

Investigators say the woman apparently was waiting for a train when she was attacked Tuesday morning.

The woman was transported to a hospital. Her name and further details on her condition weren't immediately released. Police didn't immediately announce any arrests.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit canceled rail service through downtown amid the police activity at the Pearl Station. DART buses were used to transport passengers during the three-hour light rail service interruption. Train service resumed around 8:30 a.m. CST Tuesday.

A DART official says nearly 30,000 passengers use light rail trains on a typical weekday morning.
