AMARILLO, Texas (AP) — Amarillo police have charged a wounded man with assault after he allegedly used a baseball bat to try to attack a homeowner who fought back with a sword.

Potter County jail records show 24-year-old Chad Wayne Goode was being held Friday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Bond was not yet set for Goode, who police say was involved in a fight Thursday night in front of a residence.

Police say Goode allegedly went to the residence, had a bat and tried to strike the homeowner. The resident struck Goode with what's believed to be a sword. A female witness drove Goode to a fire station for treatment. He was later arrested.

Police on Friday didn't immediately provide more details.

No attorney was listed for Goode.
