Obama Declares His Support for Gay Marriage

Following North Carolina’s ban on gay marriage, President Obama has officially announced his support  for same-sex marriage.

Obama has reversed his decision only six months before this November’s election.

"I've been going through an evolution on this issue. I've always been adamant that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally,” President Obama told ABC's "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts. "At a certain point, I just concluded that for me, personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think that same sex couples should be able to get married."

Barack Obama is the first president to declare his support for gay marriage.
