Lubbock Man Pleads Guilty to Charge After Arrest by LPD

A Lubbock man pleaded guilty on Monday, September 30th to attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.

40-year-old Fausto Montes was arrested in August after the undercover operation.

An undercover officer posed as a 15-year-old girl named Sorena on a social media app called MeetMe.

According to KAMC News, Montes had made arrangements to pick up Sorena after school, and had assumed she was upset with him when she did not show.

Court records say that Montes discussed sexual activity and sent sexually explicit pictures. Apparently, Montes also said he was looking for a place that he and Sorena could "rent and live together."

Montes will be sentenced to no more than 10 years in federal prison if a judge approves the plea deal. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
