HINESTON, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police say a Texas couple died after they were ejected from their motorcycle when a car turned in front of them on Highway 121 in Hineston community in Rapides Parish.

Master Trooper Scott Moreau says Ronnie L. Fillingim and Sharon Kay Fillingim, both 59 and from Livingston, Texas, were wearing helmets. Moreau says the Fillingims were taken to a hospitals in Alexandria where they were pronounced dead.

Moreau says the wreck happened around 12:30 p.m. Sunday when a car driven by 62-year-old Larry R. Callahan of Calcasieu tried to make a left turn into a store parking lot. He says Ronnie Fillingim tried to stop but couldn't and hit the car.

Callahan was not injured. Moreau says Callahan received a citation for improper turn.
