Shotgun Toting 13 Year Old Arrested

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — Beaumont police have arrested a 13-year-old boy accused of toting a shotgun, trying to try to rob a cabbie and then driving away in the taxi.

The suspect was being held Tuesday on juvenile charges of aggravated robbery and evading in a motor vehicle.

Beaumont police on Monday night received a call from a cabbie saying a male with a shotgun stolen her taxi.

Officer Carol Riley says the cabbie had been summoned to an address, the boy got into the vehicle, pointed a shotgun at her and said it was a holdup.

The taxi driver ran away unharmed. Riley says the boy drove off in the cab, which was stopped a short time later.

Police recovered the shotgun from the taxi.
