FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A Fort Worth police officer has shot an armed man who pointed a gun at a crowd during a disturbance outside a strip club.

Police say the wounded man was hospitalized in fair condition following the gunfire early Wednesday.

Officers investigating a reported disturbance in a parking lot heard a shot, then saw an armed man point his gun toward the crowd.

One officer opened fire, striking the suspect.

Police say another individual put the wounded man into a truck and drove away. The vehicle was later located at a hospital, where the suspect underwent surgery. His name wasn't immediately released.

No officers were hurt. Fort Worth police are trying to determine what led to the initial disturbance.

The officer who opened fire was put on administrative leave.
