DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Independent School District says it will stop offering its adult education programs by the end of this year.

Texas officials will soon name a new entity to handle the classes the district offers for adult GED, English as a Second Language and citizenship preparation.

The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/1uKbGXV ) reports about 2,300 students will be allowed to continue their courses with the new agency.

Workforce Solutions was awarded about a $7 million federal grant to distribute to adult education programs in the area.

The district has cited legal concerns in wanting to end its partnership with the program. The district's school board president says its lawyers didn't feel comfortable signing a new contract that was 400 pages long.
