Woman Charged With Murder Of Ex-Boyfriend

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police have arrested a woman in the fatal shooting of her ex-boyfriend in a parking lot near a fitness center.

Harris County jail records show 34-year-old Veronica Erin Staley was being held Thursday on a murder charge.

Online records don't list an attorney to speak for Staley, whose bond was set at $50,000 following her arrest Wednesday at the home of some relatives.

Police say 30-year-old Aljosa Memovic of Houston was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon. Police used security video in the search for a woman seen wearing pink workout clothes.

Investigators believe the attacker arranged to meet the victim. Sgt. Matthew Brady says Memovic was shot and pistol-whipped. He died at a hospital.

Some people near the parking lot videotaped a woman running to her car and driving off.
