United Supermarkets Stores Will Now Have Dedicated Shopping Times for the Elderly & Immunocompromised People
United Supermarkets is looking out for senior citizens and others who may be more impacted by the coronavirus than others.
To that end, the grocery giant will be dedicating the opening hours of operation at all its stores to customers aged 60 and up two days a week.
The change goes into effect Thursday, March 19th, 2020. Each Monday and Thursday from store opening to 9 a.m., elderly folks and those with compromised immune systems will be able to shop without fear of huge lines or empty toilet paper shelves.
To make this happen, United said grocery stores will close no later than 10 p.m. (unless they've previously closed at 9 p.m.).This will allow proper time to disinfect and restock shelves, the grocer said in a press release.
Starting Tuesday (March 17th), the United Express convenience stores will also close at 10 p.m., with fuel still available 24 hours a day.
United was quick to place purchase limits on key items, including hand sanitizer and toilet paper, after coronavirus was designated a pandemic in order to help mitigate hoarding and ensure more people were able to purchase what they needed.
