HOWE, Texas (AP) — Investigators say a flight instructor and a student have been hurt in a North Texas helicopter crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash happened Tuesday night in a field near Howe, about 50 miles north of Dallas.

Staff Sgt. Mark Tackett says investigators are trying to determine what caused the private helicopter to lose power and crash while doing maneuvers.

Tackett says one man was in critical condition Wednesday at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center in Sherman. The other man on board was being treated for back injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Further details on the victims weren't immediately released.
