Sunday Evening Shooting Leaves Teen Dead And Another Person Hospitalized

ADDISON, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a 16-year-old from Dallas has been killed and another person is hospitalized after a shooting at a gas station involving an off-duty suburban Dallas police officer.

Dan Reed, a spokesman for the Town of Addison, says a preliminary investigation indicates the officer from the adjacent town of Farmers Branch came across a crime in progress Sunday evening and intervened.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office said Monday Jose Raul Cruz died at the scene.

The other person wounded was taken to a Dallas hospital. His condition wasn't available.

Reed says the officer was not injured.

Addison and Farmers Branch police are investigating.
