Son Found Guilty In Death Of Mom’s Boyfriend

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A San Antonio man has been found guilty of fatally shooting his mother's boyfriend.

Jurors on Thursday convicted 24-year-old Jonathan Guillen of murder in the death of 44-year-old Ernest Garcia in 2012. He is set to be sentenced this month.

Guillen says he shot Garcia to protect his mother and himself.

His mother says Garcia hit her after he noticed hickeys on her neck from her estranged husband who had recently been released from prison.

Police say Guillen shot Garcia eight times, which prosecutors argued goes beyond self-defense. They say there was no evidence his mother had been abused the night of the shooting.
