San Angelo Water to Revert Back to Usual Treatment in July

If you've noticed a change in your water, more chlorine than usual, then you know that the San Angelo Water Utilities Department changed the water treatment temporarily.

However, the water will be changing back to it's usual chloramine mixture on July 1st.

The City of San Angelo is notifying public water supply systems, dialysis centers, hospitals and others that could be affected by the reversion back to chloramine.

The Water Utilities Department uses chloramine, a mixture of ammonia and chlorine, to disinfect water. Each summer for four weeks, the Water Department uses chlorine only, also known as “free chlorine.” The temporary conversion to a stronger disinfectant is a normal procedure for municipal water systems that ensures water safety by ridding distribution lines of accumulated biological growths.
