San Angelo Police Make Arrest for Aggravated Assault
Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:35 am, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Sherwood Way for a subject with a gun.
Officers arrived and met with the victim. The suspect had already left the area and was unable to be located at that time.
The victim reported he had seen the suspect trying to open car doors and confronted the suspect. The suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim prior to running away. When Officers reviewed some surveillance video that caught this incident on camera it was seen that the suspect had actually fired the handgun in the direction of the victim.
The surveillance video was turned over to SAPD’s Crime Analysts who were able to identify the suspect as 18 year old Kurt Sword. While conducting follow-up on the investigation, Sgt Doug Thomas and Detective Lynn Dye went to Stripes at 901 Glenna after it was learned Sword frequents the store. Sword was located in a car parked at the store and was taken into custody without incident. A handgun matching the description of the one used earlier was located in Sword’s possession.
Sword was transported to the Police Department to be interviewed by the lead investigator for this case, Detective Adrian Castro. Following the interview, Sword was transported to the Tom Green County Jail where he was booked for Aggravated Assault and a warrant for Fail to Identify.
