The NFL officially announced this morning that the preseason game between the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys has been canceled.

Earlier in the week, the game had been relocated from Houston to Arlington, but due to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Harvey, the league said today it wanted to give Texans players a chance to travel home.

That could be disappointing news to the 40,000 fans who bought tickets to the contest. Ticketholders have two choices -- they can get a refund or they can donate their ticket cost to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, according to Dallas News Sportsday.

Both teams have been practicing this week in Dallas in anticipation of the preseason game.

Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is running his own online fundraiser for relief efforts. ESPN reports that as of this morning, he has raised over $5 million despite setting his original goal Sunday at $200,000.
