ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico State Police say a Texas man was killed after a vehicle he was riding in crashed near Roswell.

Authorities say 34-year-old Felipe Martinez, of Amarillo, was traveling east on U.S. 70 when the incident occurred Thursday around 12:40 p.m.

According to police, a tire on his vehicle blew out.

They say the car then overturned several times.

Passenger Able Portillo was thrown from the vehicle.

Police say the 58-year-old Amarillo man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

They say Martinez and two other passengers also were taken to a hospital with injuries. Their condition was not immediately known Friday.

According to police, Portillo was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
