SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Officials say a gunman crashed his truck into an SUV driven by his estranged wife during a South Texas chase that ended when he fatally shot her, then himself.

The Bexar (bayr) County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday did not immediately release names of the couple, who recently separated. A sheriff's statement says the San Antonio-area murder-suicide happened Monday night.

Authorities say the man was chasing his wife and eventually crashed his pickup truck into the back of her SUV as she stopped near a grocery store parking lot. Investigators say the man shot his spouse during an argument, then turned the gun on himself.

Both people died at the scene.
