GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas General Land Office is involved in a dispute over umbrella and chair rentals on Galveston's Seawall Boulevard beaches.

A vendor, Frank Maceo, has been operating on a section of the beach without the usual lease agreement from the Galveston parks board. He says sand on that part of the beach has been owned for years by a business affiliated with his family, which has a long history in Galveston.

Maceo tells The Galveston County Daily News (http://bit.ly/1QEN0qU ) he has a deal with that company, meaning his umbrellas and chairs have been competing with vendors who have parks board leases.

The board now has marked disputed beach territory where no one can set up rentals until the General Land Office can figure out who can use the space.
