HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police are seeking three suspects over the fatal shooting of a customer during a failed convenience store robbery.

Police say two men tried to hold up the store Tuesday night and confronted a man standing at the counter waiting to buy some items.

Lt. W.L. Meeler says one of the suspects put a gun to the customer's head. The victim and the suspect struggled, the customer was shot and he died later at a hospital.

Police say the suspects apparently fled without stealing anything, escaping in a waiting car driven by another person.

No employees were hurt. Houston police recovered a gun at the scene.

The name of the victim wasn't immediately released.

Police are checking convenience store security video.
