The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships (nationwide) to the highest-rated applicants in the 2016 Most Valuable Student competition.  The application is due to the local Elks Lodge by 4 December, 2015, 2121 S Chadbourne.  School Counselors have been sent this information, or you can download the application, at

Applicants must be a high school senior, and must be a citizen of the United States.

Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Local winners will advance to the district level, and those winners will advance to the state level. State winners will advance to the national level, where the winner will receive a $50,000 scholarship to pursue a 4 year degree. Other finalists will receive lessor amounts of scholarship monies. The total scholarships awarded will be more than $2.4 million.

Another Elks scholarship is the 2016 Texas Elks State Association Scholarship:  Six (6) scholarships will be awarded to three male and three female high school graduates from the 2016 graduating classes of Texas high schools.  Each award will be in the amount of $1,250.00 per year for the 2016-2020 academic years, for a total of $5,000.00 per award.  The application is due to the local Elks Lodge by 4 March, 2016.

Other Texas Elks State Association scholarships that are available include:  Teenager of the Year Scholarship; TESA Vocational Grant Award; Eagle Scout Scholarship; Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarship.
