Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) joined the broadcast to share his opinion about the Trump administration's announcement that the federal government will provide up to $12 billion in aid to U.S. farmers being affected by the escalating trade war over tariffs.

While answering Hasty's question about whether or not the United States is taking the correct actions, Sen. Cruz said:

The single biggest concern that I hear from Texas farmers and ranchers is trade...I think getting in a trade war and shutting down our ability to export our crops and our livestock and our manufactured goods, I think that's a dangerous place to be...The answer should not be government aid, it should be allowing farmers and ranchers to sell their goods.
