CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — A South Texas man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for the 2014 slaying of a Corpus Christi convenience store owner during a robbery.

Arturo Navarro pleaded guilty Monday to murder in a plea deal in Corpus Christi.

Navarro is the second person ordered to prison for the April 2014 fatal shooting of 59-year-old Mostafa "Ben" Bighamian.

A Nueces (nyoo-AY'-sis) County jury earlier this year convicted Daniel Garcia of capital murder and sentenced him to life in prison without parole. Garcia testified that he was smoking synthetic marijuana and decided to rob the store because he ran out of drugs and needed cash.

A third person, Del Victoria Cavazos, awaits trial on a capital murder charge.
