ROCKPORT, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers will help investigate the in-custody death of a man following a domestic disturbance call in Rockport.

Two Rockport police officers suffered minor injuries in Tuesday night's altercation.

The Texas Department of Public Safety on Wednesday identified the man who died as 40-year-old Wesley Manning.

Authorities say officers responded to a disturbance involving Manning and a woman. Police tried to arrest Manning, but he became combative. Manning became unresponsive after being taken into custody. Officers tried to help Manning as medical personnel were summoned.

Manning died at an Aransas (uh-RAN'-sus) Pass hospital. Autopsy results are pending.

Rockport is 25 miles northeast of Corpus Christi.
