WACO, Texas (AP) — Police say a driver has survived a 60-foot fall into Lake Waco after her vehicle wrecked on some bridges, she fell to the water and swam to shore.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton says Brittney Garret was rescued early Thursday following the Highway 6 accident. The 24-year-old Garret was being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers late Wednesday responded to a single-vehicle crash in the westbound lane of two bridges over the lake. Garret's pickup truck went out of control, straddled a guardrail between the bridges and slid along the edge.

Swanton says the cab and floorboard split and Garret fell through the opening, about 60 feet to Lake Waco. She swam 150 yards to shore.

Swanton had no immediate details on who summoned help.
