A woman who had accused Texas State Senator Charles Perry (R- Lubbock) of stalking her has instead found herself in jail.

Cynthia Lynn Ortiz, aka Cindy Ortiz, was arrested last Friday, booked into the Lubbock County Jail and charged with Retaliation, a third-degree felony.

Ortiz’s address is officially listed as ‘Homeless in Lubbock’ and she has spent time in both Texas and Oklahoma over the past few years. Ortiz first met Perry in 2009 before he became an elected official.

Last year, Ortiz tried to obtain a protective order against Senator Perry in Oklahoma, where she lived. The request was rejected after no evidence was found to substantiate her claims.

KAMC News obtained a copy of Ortiz's arrest warrant. It alleges she had made two online threats against Perry on Twitter in January.

The first tweet quoted in the warrant was from January 12, 2016, Ortiz wrote: "Sometimes because of his constant intrusion & harassment I wish I could beat the s*** out of Perry. Of course I’ll never actually do that."

A second tweet was quoted from January 14, 2016. It read: "I've had a zillion ppl offer 2 take him out and end my misery. Never would I approve or condone it being done that way."

The 46-year-old Ortiz is currently being held at the Lubbock County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond. No trial date has been set. If Ortiz is convicted, she faces between two to 10 years in prison.
