SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Authorities are trying to determine who wrapped large rubber bands around a stray cat in San Antonio in abuse that led to one of the kitty's limbs being amputated.

The Bexar (bayr) County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday announced the search for suspects in the animal cruelty case of the friendly cat dubbed Little Gray, for her color.

The kitty was recovering Thursday at Castle-West Animal Hospital in San Antonio.

Officials say the cat, for about a year lived, on a landscaping company's property and was fed by employees. She disappeared in late August.

Workers told investigators that the cat limped back on Sept. 2.

Deputies found rubber bands tightly wrapped around Little Gray's right front leg and left rear leg, cutting off circulation. The front leg had to be amputated.
