DALLAS (AP) — Animal fans from around the world who watched online as a giraffe was born at the Dallas Zoo can now help choose her name.

Online voting opened Thursday to name the nearly 6-foot-tall calf born on April 10.

A zoo statement says voting is free at Dallaszoo.org, but people are encouraged to make donations in support of threatened wildlife in Africa.

Zookeepers have chosen three possible names for the young giraffe, all with African themes.

Adia (uh-DEE'-uh) means "a gift."

Kanzi (KAHN'-zee) means "a treasure."

Kipenzi (kuh-PEN'-zee) means "loved one."

Voting to name the calf runs through next Thursday.

The cable TV show "Animal Planet" continues its live video feed of the calf and her mother, Katie, in their pen. The site has had nearly 2.3 million viewings.
