GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — Trial is starting in Galveston for a 36-year-old man charged with sexual assault of a 14-month-old child.

Jurors are being selected Monday in the case of Jason Grant, who faces at least 25 years in prison if convicted of the 2012 attack.

The Galveston County Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1UmdZef ) a judge last week rejected attempts by Grant's attorneys to keep from evidence a phone video prosecutors say shows 10 seconds of the attack. Grant's lawyers contended the phone had been stolen.

Grant's trial has been delayed since last February when he was found incompetent to stand trial and temporarily was committed to a mental hospital. An October evaluation determined he was competent.

A woman already convicted in the case faces retrial after her conviction was thrown out on appeal.
