San Angelo's 7th Annual Simply Blues Festival will kick off bright and early this Saturday, May 9th, downtown. Each year the Blues Festival is held on the second Saturday of May in the 200 block of Oakes Street in Historic Downtown San Angelo. This is an event that we look forward to in San Angelo, and it's perfect to come hang out, bring the family, and listen to some awesome music.

During daylight hours visitors will find the International Blues Challenge competition where local Blues bands, solo, and duo acts all compete for the opportunity to represent San Angelo at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Texas. Did you know that the San Angelo Blues Society is the only active member of the Blues Foundation in West Texas?

Aside from the music, you can walk around enjoying great food, vendors, and don't forget the RibFest Cook-Off they will be having! Check out the full festival program here

When the sun goes down, things start to heat up. The opening act Saturday night will be The Ghost Town Blues Band, who hail all the way from Memphis itself. They were also finalist in the 2014 International Blues Challenge, so you know they will just rock your world. Then, as if you need any more reason to come by, the evenings headliner is Samantha Fish. Don't miss out on one big event. When I say big, I mean big! Last year around 10,000 people came in and out of the festival.
