Texas Tech Football on Saturday afternoon beat the Kansas Jayhawks 48-16 in a lethargic game at Jones AT&T Stadium.

The announced attendance was just over 50,000, but many of the fans left at halftime when Texas Tech was leading, 24-3. In some ways, the game felt like an 11 a.m. kickoff with the lack of energy in the stadium.

Red Raider quarterback Alan Bowman played for the first time since suffering from a partially collapsed lung against West Virginia. Bowman started the game, and played in all four quarters. He took a few hard hits during the game, but seemed unaffected by them.

At the end of the first quarter the game was tied at 3-3. Both teams weren't able to convert offensive opportunities and that led to the low scoring quarter.

The second quarter is when Red Raiders asserted their dominance over the Jayhawks. The Tech defense forced a fumble and three punts on the Jayhawks' drives in the second quarter. Offensively Texas Tech scored 21 points in the second quarter: a rushing touchdown from Tre King, a Bowman 13 yard touchdown pass to T.J. Vasher and a Ta'Zhawn Henry 4-yard rushing touchdown.

The third quarter was much like the first: not much scoring, and not a lot of action.

Going into the fourth quarter, Texas Tech led 27-9. Alan Bowman threw two of his touchdown passes early in the fourth as the Red Raiders extended their lead to 41-9. Bowman was then pulled from the game for Jett Duffey. Duffey led the Red Raiders on a 6 play, 67 yard drive, which saw Demarcus Felton rush for a 34 yard touchdown.

Bowman finished the game 36/46 passing for 408 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Duffey went 3/3 passing for 33 yards.

Texas Tech's leading receivers in the win were: Antoine Wesley, with 9 receptions for 155 yards and one touchdown, and T.J. Vasher with 5 receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Dakota Allen led the Red Raiders with seven tackles, two for a loss. Texas Tech also held Kansas to 4/15 on 3rd Down conversions.

Next Saturday, Texas Tech plays at Iowa State. The game is slated for an 11 a.m. kickoff on ESPN2. SportsRadio 1340 will air Countdown to Kickoff with Rob Breaux and Karson Robinson from 9 -11 a.m.
