A committee that Texas State Senator Charles Perry (R- Lubbock) serves on will hold a public hearing in Lubbock later this month.

The Senate Select Committee on Property Tax Reform & Relief will meet on March 21, 2016 at 11am at the Texas Tech International Cultural Center Auditorium.

Public comments at the hearing will be limited to three minutes for each person testifying, and parking will be available on-site for the hearing.

The Senate Select Committee on Property Tax Reform & Relief is currently studying the property tax process; including the appraisal system, and recommend ways to promote transparency and accountability by all taxing entities in the state. The committee is also examining potential options to reduce the tax burden on property owners.

"Many of you have reached out to me with your thoughts on our state's property tax structure," said Senator Perry. "Whether your issues deal with high increases, appeals, or general frustration with the entire process itself - this is your opportunity to have your voice heard before the Texas Senate."
