SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Parades and other community events are planned across Texas to remember slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Organizers say Monday's MLK march in San Antonio is expected to draw a crowd of more than 100,000. It's billed as one of the largest King marches in the country.

Volunteers in some Texas cities, including Fort Worth, planned to spend Monday helping others. The Tarrant Churches Together MLK day of service was promoted as a "stream of compassion" to serve together across the community.

Some cities held commemorations over the weekend.

Dunbar College Preparatory Academy in Lubbock celebrated youth night on Saturday with a talent show.

A discussion Saturday at El Paso Community College focused on youths learning more about black history and culture as they concentrate on education.
