A 16-year-old male is in critical condition after he was struck by a pickup truck late Tuesday night in North San Angelo.
The crash occurred at about 10:00 p.m. in the southbound lane of the 3600 block of N. Bryant Blvd. The victim was transported to Shannon Medical for treatment of incapacitating injuries and he is listed in critical condition.

The victim and another 16-year-old male were reportedly walking backwards in the roadway when they noticed headlights and attempted to jump out of the vehicle’s path. Witnesses at the scene told police the victim first ran westbound but stopped and began to run east when he was struck by a 1999 GMC pickup truck. The second juvenile avoided collision and was not injured.

After the collision, the truck’s driver, a 24-year-old male resident of Brady, used his truck to block oncoming traffic and attended to the victim until first responders arrived. The driver and his female passenger were not injured from the collision.
