Teacher’s Handout Lands Him In Hot Water

RICHMOND, Texas (AP) — A Houston-area teacher faces unspecified discipline for allegedly giving students anti-Muslim documents during class.

Officials with the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District say the handout, with references to terrorism and beheadings, was not approved by administrators.

Authorities didn't immediately release the name of the teacher at Foster High School in Richmond or what discipline he faces. Some students showed the eight-page document to their parents, who complained.

District officials say the teacher made independent changes to a lesson plan, with information being given out that didn't follow subject matter, or state and local curriculum plans.

The Council of American Islamic Relations on Tuesday said the documents contained erroneous information from an online anti-Muslim site. Council officials also called for the teacher to be disciplined.
