Special Runoff Election To Decide Winner Of House Seat
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A runoff election in western San Antonio will decide a successor for state Rep. Jose Menendez, who left his post in February to become a Texas senator.
Ex-Bexar (bayr) County prosecutor Ina Minjarez on Tuesday faced fellow Democrat and former San Antonio City Council member Delicia Herrera.
Minjarez drew almost 42 percent of the vote in a March 31 special election for state House District 124, against almost 30 percent for Herrera. No candidate won a majority in the four-way, all-Democrat race.
Menendez left the House in February to become a Texas senator, succeeding Leticia Van de Putte. She left the Senate to run for San Antonio mayor.
Tuesday's results should conclude a bevy of special elections needed after many politicians changed jobs following November's general election.
