Sentence Of Life Without Parole Handed Down In Murder Case
AMARILLO, Texas (AP) — A Texas woman who abducted a 2-week-old girl after seeing a Facebook posting about the newborn must serve life in prison for killing the baby's mother.
Prosecutors says Adriana Lisa Perez of Canadian wanted a child and lured the mother with offers of free baby items. The kidnapped child wasn't hurt.
Perez on Wednesday pleaded guilty to capital murder in a plea deal, for life in prison without parole, over last December's slaying of Leslie Perez of Shamrock. The women were not related.
The Amarillo Globe-News (http://bit.ly/1v7OC73 ) reports Leslie Perez managed to crawl outside her home after being stabbed.
A neighbor recalled earlier seeing a vehicle in the yard. That description led officers to Adriana Perez and the victim's unharmed baby in a vehicle in neighboring Gray County.
