San Angelo’s 30th Annual July 3rd Pops Concert
The San Angelo Symphony’s 30th Annual July 3rd Pops Concert is Monday, July 3rd at the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial River Stage.
The gates will open at 12:00 pm; the Community Band will begin at 7:00 pm, followed by the San Angelo Symphony at 8:30 pm.
This free event continues to unite our community in a patriotic celebration to honor our military, our leaders, and our country. This concert, which draws more than 35,000 in attendance, is now the fourth largest in the state of Texas. The July 3rd Pops Concert features military pageantry including the historic cannons of Fort Concho, the men and women of Goodfellow Air Force Base, symphonic songs of celebration performed by Maestro Hector Guzman and the San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, and a Fireworks Extravaganza sponsored by Mayfield Paper Company.
Joining the San Angelo Symphony this year as a guest vocalist is Keron Jackson, hailed by the Dallas Morning News as “a powerhouse bass voice who takes command of the stage”. Jackson, a talented musician, actor, and evangelist, has performed in prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and the Dallas Opera, as well as national singing competitions, conventions, school auditoriums, and churches.
Returning this year will be the Symphony’s Kids Zone, featuring balloon artists and face painters. Kids Zone will be open from 5:45-8:15p, and is free to all.
Free shuttle transportation will be offered between the McNease Convention Center at 500 Rio Concho Drive and the Windmill near the RiverStage. Shuttle service begins at 6:00p and will continue until 11:00p.
Attendees are welcome to bring coolers with food and drink, but no glass is permitted in the RiverStage.
General admission to the Pops concert is free, but reserved seating is available ($15 – $35) for purchase in the San Angelo Symphony office located at 72 West College, in the historic City Hall, on the west mezzanine level.
