Wheels are being replaced on approximately 9,000 trash bins that have been delivered to San Angelo homes following a factory recall.

Toter employees will not enter any gates or structures to replace wheels.

If residential customers notice their trash and recycling carts have been moved, it’s because the wheels have been replaced. Toter, the company delivering the carts, is replacing a defective mechanism that holds the wheels in place in an effort to relieve future problems with wheels becoming unhinged. Toter is replacing the wheels at a rate of about 1,000 bins per day on any carts that are visible.

Toter employees will not enter any gates or structures to replace wheels. If a cart’s wheels need replacing and it is not visible, Toter employees will replace the cart on the first day of service after the new collection routes take effect July 20. If you don't already know your garbage and recycling collection day, you can find it online.

Residential customers will not have to make any extra effort to ensure defective wheels are replaced. Citizens will not be charged for the replacement parts.
