San Angelo Police completed Traffic Enforcement and an Autopsy reveals death from natural causes.

April 18, 2017 Traffic Enforcement Operation:

Tuesday morning, April 18th, the San Angelo Police Department’s Traffic Section conducted a LIDAR Traffic Enforcement operation in the westbound lanes of the 1700 block of E. Houston from 8:00 a.m. through 10:30 a.m. and the eastbound lanes of the 2200 block of W. Houston Harte from 10:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m.

Police issued a total of one hundred (100) citations during the operation.  Breakdown for citations:

 Speeding: 66 (Highest speed 84 MPH)

Fail to Slow Down or Vacate Lane for Emergency Vehicle: 2

No Insurance: 4

Child Safety Seat: 1

Other/Misc. Violations: 27

Warnings: 2

As a reminder, the Texas Transportation Code requires drivers nearing stopped emergency vehicles with lights activated to change lanes or slowdown by 20 MPH below the speed limit.  Failing to take these actions endangers personnel who provide critical and life-saving services.

Preliminary Autopsy Results Show Woman Found Deceased in Vehicle Died of Natural Causes:

Preliminary autopsy results from South Plains Forensic Pathology indicate 51-year-old Darlene Perez died of natural causes.

Perez, who was reported missing on April 8, 2017, was discovered deceased inside her vehicle on April 10, 2017.

Police Officials located Perez’s vehicle, a 2009 Nissan XTerra, parked in the 500 block of S. Jackson Street utilizing the Department’s Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) System.
