WACO, Texas (AP) — Two men have been rescued from along a flooded Central Texas creek as storms dumped more than 2 inches of rain in the area.  Emergency responders in Waco received a 911 call from one of the stranded men Sunday afternoon.

Police Sgt. Patrick Swanton says authorities believe one man slipped into the fast-moving water of Waco Creek. A second man passing by tried to help and he also ended up trapped, with both men able to reach a section of concrete.

Firefighters lowered a ladder to reach the pair. One man was treated for a minor hand injury.

The National Weather Service says parts of McLennan County, near Hewitt (HYOO'-it), received more than 2.5 inches of rain on Sunday.

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport recorded nearly 3 inches of rain Sunday.
