HOUSTON (AP) — A San Antonio man sent to death row for killing a woman during a burglary attempt 12 years ago has received an execution date for this summer.

Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Jason Clark said Wednesday 45-year-old Taichin Preyor is set for lethal injection July 20.

Preyor was condemned in 2005 for the fatal stabbing and slashing of 20-year-old Jami Tackett. Tackett's boyfriend also was wounded in the attack at her San Antonio apartment.

Trial testimony showed Tackett had been selling drugs to Preyor, who in turn would also deal the drugs.

Preyer apparently lost his car keys at the apartment during the attack and when he went back to search for them, the still blood-spattered Preyer was arrested by police.
