President Trump Holds Ceremonial Swearing-In for Justice Brett Kavanaugh
Monday evening, in the East Room of The White House, President Donald Trump held a ceremonial swearing-in for the country's newest supreme court justice.
Monday's ceremony was attended by all eight of the other supreme court justices, Justice Kavanaugh's family and numerous supporters of President Trump.
President Trump also apologized to the Kavanaugh family for the contentious confirmation process, "On behalf of the nation, I'd like to apologize to Brad and the entire a Kavanaugh family for the terrible pain and suffering you've been forced to endure," President Trump said. "Those who stepped forward to serve our country deserve a fair and dignified evaluation. Not a campaign of political and personal destruction based on lies and deception."
Justice Kavanaugh was confirmed last Saturday with a 50-48 vote. He was officially sworn-in on Sunday, so he would be prepared to start work on Tuesday, which is the start of the 2018-2019 Supreme Court term.
