AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — State officials have identified a pilot who died in a small plane crash in Central Texas.   

The Department of Public Safety says 63-year-old Daniel Disbrow of Magnolia died when his plane crashed Sunday in Lee County near Elgin. The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash on Monday.

Authorities say the plane was headed from David Wayne Hooks Airport in Spring to Austin.

KPRC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1uR90YW ) The plane is registered to photography company Aerial Viewpoint. The company's owner says Disbrow was moving the plane from Spring to Austin for a surveying project. He says Disbrow was a skilled survey pilot who had been with the company since the mid-1990s.

Disbrow served as a Galveston County sheriff's deputy from 1976 to 1988.
