HALTOM CITY, Texas (AP) — A North Texas police officer trying to warm his personal car on a freezing morning has helped catch a theft suspect.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram (http://bit.ly/11tcMvs ) reports Haltom City Detective Tony Miller stopped two men allegedly trying to steal his car, leading to one arrest.

Miller was in his running car around 5 a.m. CST Tuesday, letting it warm up outside a residence, when two men in a Ford Mustang pulled up beside him. Miller says the passenger wiped frost from the officer's window and tried to see inside. The suspect then opened Miller's car door.

Miller drew his gun but that suspect ran.

Miller summoned other officers, who chased the Mustang until it hit a building in Fort Worth. The driver faces charges of attempted theft and evading arrest.
