The West Texas city of Odessa, where slain Navy Seal and author of "American Sniper", Chris Kyle was born, unveiled his memorial with ceremonies, Thursday.

The privately funded memorial, of granite and limestone features a bronze statue of Kyle, who's autobiography served as the basis of the 2014 film, "American Sniper."

Kyle, along with close friend Chad Littlefield, died in 2013 at a shooting range in Texas. The man responsible, a former Marine, was convicted and sentenced to life behind bars.
