Megan Rapinoe scored twice and the United States beat Australia, 3-1, in the U.S. Women’s National Team World Cup opener in Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada on Monday night. Christen Press also scored a goal for the U.S., which is looking for its first World Cup title since 1999.

Rapinoe scored in the 12th and 78th minutes for the Americans. Lisa De Vanna tied the score midway through the first half for the Aussies, but Press’ goal in the 61st minute gave the U.S. the lead for good.

The Americans’ next match is on Friday against Sweden in Winnipeg.
