BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — A sinkhole big enough to swallow a vehicle has opened on a Southeast Texas street.

Engineers in Beaumont say it could take a couple of weeks to repair the hole that opened Tuesday.

Beaumont traffic engineer Zheng Tan Tan says a possible storm sewer line rupture probably caused the sinkhole in a neighborhood.

Joyce Bodwin lives nearby and says she's concerned about the safety of people who use the street, including buses that transport students to a nearby school.

The area remains blocked off during repairs.
