Man’s Crime Spree Leads To Life Sentence

DALLAS (AP) — A jury has imposed a lifetime prison sentence on a suburban Dallas man who committed more than a dozen crimes that included burning down his fiancee's house, breaking into several homes and animal cruelty.

Forty-year-old William "Chad" Coleman of Frisco was sentenced Wednesday after earlier pleading guilty to a range of charges that included aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The Dallas Morning News reports (http://bit.ly/1InF5wA ) that Coleman threatened his fiancee before burning her Frisco home in 2013. One of her dogs later was found dead and another injured. Authorities say on another occasion he led police on a high-speed chase and stole several credit cards.

Defense attorney Quinton Pelley had asked for a minimum sentence of 15 years, arguing that Coleman had apologized for his actions.
